POSTING # 13-97
The core responsibility of the Planning and Development Office and Accounting Support position is to provide administrative support, financial support, and data analysis to the various units of the Lethbridge Planning and Development Services Department.
Specific Duties
;Administrative Assistant to the Director and Department Managers.
;Typing of correspondence, minutes, notices, and forms and meeting setup duties.
;Organizing and assisting with organization of meetings and/or courses.
;Prepare agenda packages for Ad-hoc, advisory and working group committees.
;Assist staff in preparation of reports and information packages for submission to appeals boards.
;Coordinates appointments, meetings and information between business units, ad-hoc committees, the development industry, residents groups, and the Planning and Development Division.
;Daily and Monthly Financial Analysis and Reporting.
;Budget/Variance Reporting assist in monitoring operating budget to make certain expenditures and revenues are coded correctly.
;Monitor monthly variances to ensure spending meets projected budgeted amounts. ; Issue reports and variances to the various Department Managers to assist in key business decisions.
;Provide financial advice and guidance to management on balances and trends in financial accounts and data to aid in decision making.
;Instrumental in assisting the Director with the development of three year budgets.
;Liaises with the Office Manager to ensure timely updates and reports to business unit managers.
Qualifications
;A two year post-secondary diploma in Business/Office Administration, accounting, customer service, or advanced Microsoft programs.
;Municipal experience considered an asset.
;Essential accounting procedures (payables, receivables, projection of yearend variances, etc.)
;Business/Office Administration
;Exceptional analytical ability to review reporting, monitoring and reconciling.
;Excellent customer service and communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within all levels of the organization.
;Superior organization skills for multi-tasking and meeting tight deadlines with many interruptions.
;This position requires frequent use of creativity, independent judgment and initiative. The incumbent regularly performs duties that are confidential in nature.
;Ability to prepare accurate and concise reports and research, review and interpret statistical data.
;In-depth experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Publisher, etc) and ability to learn new programs such as Tempest, Oracle, and People Soft.
Salary: ; ;$29.70 per hour (37.5 Hours per week) ;
