Job Title:HR Advisor
12 month Fixed Term Contract opportunity, to cover maternity leave.

An opportunity exists for a HR Advisor in the HR Advisory Team, providing HR Advisory support to line managers in Northern Ireland. The role of the HR Advisor is to support line managers in the provision of expert advice on HR policy / procedure and the delivery of HR solutions which add value to the business and enable line managers to achieve their business objectives, while being compliant with Bank of Ireland Group policies, employment legislation and recognised as HR best practice.
The HR Advisor will concentrate mainly on providing expert advice on complex HR queries and interpretation of HR policies and procedures, management of individual employee cases (arising from attendance, performance, grievance, disciplinary, bullying and harassment issues), support the HR implementation of key HR projects and up-skilling line management in core people management capability.
Responsibilities of the role include:
§ Expert Advice: Provide Expert Advice to Line Managers on complex HR queries and interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
§ Case Management: Advise Line Managers on all aspects of case management e.g. attendance, performance, grievance, discipline, bullying and harassment, including managing and supporting them through informal / formal procedures and investigations.
§ Line Manger Capability: Pro-actively coach and support people managers in all areas relating to the management of employees via development of work-shops / line manager training, or 1:1 coaching. Areas to be covered include performance management, attendance, diversity, flexible working, grievance, disciplinary, harassment, employee engagement and cost & capability to ensure that day-to-day HR issues are actively managed to conclusion in accordance with HR policies and procedures, employment legislation and best practice.
§ Project support: Support the HR implementation of a variety of strategic projects and change programmes across the full spectrum of HR and business activities e.g. Line Management Capability, Organisational Change / Consultation, Policy Development and so on.
§ MIS: Review MIS requirements on monthly / quarterly basis and assist in the design and preparation of UK HR Advisory MIS to agreed timeframes, in order to measure efficiency of service levels and enable pro-active management of HR issues with the relevant business units and HR Business Partner.
§ Customer Service: Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external clients (Line Managers, HR Business Partners, SMEs, HR Managers, Group Industrial Relations, IBOA, Partners Council, HR Operations). Facilitate and implement HR solutions and management decisions in a timely manner. Encourage direct engagement between employees and their line managers.
§ Employee Engagement: Demonstrate being a committed, engaged employee within the HR Advisory Team this involves participation in action planning, good communications and developing ways of working. Provide guidance and support to HR community.
Key requirements are:
§ Demonstrable experience in a generalist HR role offering advice to Line Managers on a range of complex HR issues. Relevant business experience would also be an advantage.
§ CIPD membership and/or professional HR qualification.
§ Specialist employee relations knowledge and experience, including extensive knowledge of relevant NI employment legislation and consultation requirements and processes.
§ Demonstrated knowledge of key change disciplines from a HR perspective.
§ Internal consultancy skills and the ability to influence others.
§ Strong PC skills, with proven proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SAP.
§ HR Project management / implementation experience preferable.
Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience.
