Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated individual with the ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary Research Team located in Carman, MB. The Research Associate will primarily be responsible for supporting the activities of the on-site Testing & Operations Manager.
The Field Research Associate will have the opportunity to support the Testing & Operations Manager in coordinating various trials, implementing and administering standard operating procedures, ISO, quality analysis, quality control and safety procedures. Responsibilities:
· Assist in selection and maintenance of testing locations and operating research farming equipment
· Assist in managing regulated wheat field trials under CFIA requirements including monitoring for and controlling prohibited species for in-season and post-harvest confined trials
· Preparation for/and planting, field plot maintenance, data collection and harvesting
· Assist in managing ISO/Quality Management System
· Interact with researchers on and off-site for project related needs
· Actively participate in Site Safety Program
· Participate in task-related document creation and process review for job-related activities
· Recruit, train, and develop temporary personnel
· Ensure that company assets are well-cared for and properly maintained
Qualifications:
Required Skills/Experience:
· BS Degree and at least 3 years of appropriate work experience within a crop research environment
· Familiarity with field research methodologies
· Knowledge of crop productions, farming practices, and farm equipment operation and repair
· Working knowledge of statistics
· Ability to travel overnight during growing season activities
· Documented individual leadership skills including excellent organization and record keeping skills
· Effective verbal and written communication skills
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
· Willing to work long days during planting, spraying and harvest seasons
· Pesticide applicator license, or ability to obtain license
· Class 3 Manitoba driver??s license or equivalent, or ability to obtain license
Desired Skills/Experience:
· MS in Agronomy or related field
· Previous wheat and/or small grains plot research experience
· Demonstrated ability to write and speak fluently in English and work in interdisciplinary teams
· Farm background is an asset
