The Office of the Fire Commissioner (OFC) is currently seeking a qualified and experienced professional to perform safety inspections of elevators, amusement rides, ski tows and other elevating devices across Manitoba.

Qualifications:

The following criteria are Essential:
Extensive experience in the elevator services and inspection industry.
Demonstrated knowledge of related applicable codes, standards and regulations.
Ability to communicate and work with the public and other stakeholders in a professional and courteous manner.
Strong organization and time management skills.
Strong written communication skills and experience preparing effective notes and written reports.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Strong decision making and problem solving skills.
Ability to work as part of a team and independently with minimum day-to-day supervision.
Strong conflict resolution skills and experience.

Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) are desired.

The following are Conditions of Employment:
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
Satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check.
Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver License.
Certification as an Elevator Mechanic, Licensed with the Province of Manitoba.
Licensed as a Limited Specialized Trade Electrician (M License) with the Province of Manitoba.
Successful completion of the Canadian Elevator Industry Education Program.
Access to a personal vehicle for business use with the ability to travel throughout the province of Manitoba.
Must be physically capable of performing the required duties such as (but not limited to) climbing ladders, wearing of personal protective equipment, entering and working in confined spaces, working in inclement weather.

Duties:

The incumbent will represent the Office of the Fire Commissioner in the delivery of inspection services of elevators, other lifting devices, amusement rides and ski tows across Manitoba. A complete position description is available upon request.
